I would like to introduce myself. My name is Karen Rubin. I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced English (ESL) to adults and children. I'm an experienced teacher, having taught students from more than 40 different countries. I love my work because I meet interesting people from all over the world and am able to learn about many cultures. I love helping my students with English and life in the U.S. I have the best job in the world!
I received a teaching degree from Michigan State University, an international tutoring certification from Oakland Community College and am also certified in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Many years ago, I began my ESL career teaching community English as a second language in Hamtramck, Southfield, and at the International Institute in Detroit. I left teaching to raise three sons. When I returned, I started tutoring academic English students at Oakland Community College. There I met some wonderful Japanese women who encouraged me to start my own business. I began Learn More English to help students learn useful English for living and working in the U.S.
I now teach adult English lessons at my home in Farmington Hills to adults and children 8 and over. I also teach ESL by skype. I have many years of experience, and I know how to improve my students' English skills. I also help my students with the many problems they have living here, including with their home owners, children's schools, stores, travel, etc.
When I have free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, researching and helping my students enjoy their life in America.
